Bluetooth Proximity Client

6/2/09 v0.0.9.0 - Included in vCrib release

Requirements
1. vCrib 0.0.9.0
2. Bluetooth dongle that uses the MS Bluetooth Stack (most do). If you are not sure, check in you Device Manager. If you see Microsoft Bluetoooth Enumerator then you are all set
3. Cell phone or other device with bluetooth to detect

Usage
Instructions in the wiki: http://www.thevirtualcrib.com/wiki/index.php?title=Bluetooth_Proximity

This is by no means simple so if you are having trouble detecting post here with the device type and the log.

Downloaded unpacked 0.1.1 went to launch the app and it gave me the unknown publisher message about running the exe then an error.

Bluetooth vCrib Client has encountered a problem and needs to close. We are sorry for the inconvenience.

Quick Google search:

Quote:
This error may happen if you installed the Microsoft .NET Framework before you installed the Microsoft Internet Information Server (IIS). The System.IO.FileNotFoundException indicates that a file is missing but is sure which file and why it would be missing.

I get the error with version v0.1.1.

It seems that your initial version appears to work somewhat....I need to figure out how to do the pairing tho. My phone sees my server name, but then it asks for a passcode. When I type 123 or whatever and click OK, I get 'request failed' in your program.

oh, ah...hehe. I just thought it was my fault for not knowing how to use BT -_-

Well, I got a little further using the initial version of your program with 0000 to connect. But I get other errors now. Could not load MySQL.Data, Version=5.2.5.0, Culture=neutral, PublicKeyToken=....., or one of its dependencies. The system cannot find the file specified

Here's what is says when I click details:

To enable just-in-time (JIT) debugging, the .config file for this

enabled.

For example:

<configuration>
<system.windows.forms jitDebugging="true" />
</configuration>

When JIT debugging is enabled, any unhandled exception
will be sent to the JIT debugger registered on the computer
rather than be handled by this dialog box.

On my server, I checked which version of .Net Framework I have installed.

Under control panel->add/remove programs, in my list I have:
.Net Framework 1.1
.Net Framework 2.0 SP2
.Net Framework 3.0 SP2
.Net Framework 3.5 SP2

ok. i think the reason you are getting the error on v0.1.1 is because it is not in the vCrib install directory. It has to be in the same directory as the vcrib.ini file. Does anyone read instructions? Wink

Yes, it was in the correct directory, I was missing the MySql.Data.dll which I just downloaded. Looks like you posted twice before I finished installing .net 3.5

So it is now paired with my phone and my wife's phone but the status always says away. periodically the devices disappear from the right column all together. but then pop back in.

I clicked the Add to vCrib button named the device and it confirmed that it was added to vCrib. But nothing new appears on the Objects tab. I have reloaded admin.exe and still no new object. Do we need to add a bluetooth device type?

new release v0.1.3

I think i have fixed all the bugs. Humanzee, i think the problem you had with always being away is fixed and the new versions interface with vcrib so you should be seeing your devices show up in admin.exe
